Full control for the Molvik!

The new self-discharging cement carrier Molvik has been delivered to Eureka Shipping, equipped with automation systems from Marble Automation. For this vessel, Marble provided two main systems: the Alarm and Monitoring System and the Ballast and Bilge Control System.

Both systems are connected into one central platform and can be controlled from three stations on board. This setup gives the crew full overview and control during all operations, from loading and discharging to sailing.

Alarm and Monitoring System

The Alarm and Monitoring System gives a complete overview of all alarms and conditions across the vessel. It includes full UMS integration with a new visualization page, showing every detail clearly. The interface helps the crew see exactly where an alarm comes from and respond quickly.

Integration with the ABC engine allows configurable sensor settings, giving engineers insight into the engine’s performance. Tank levels, pressures, and temperatures are all displayed within the same system, offering a clear and easy overview of the ship’s technical state.

Ballast and Bilge Control System

The Ballast and Bilge Control System gives direct control over more than 25 analog and digital valves. Its clear visualization shows valve status, pump activity, and tank levels at a glance. The system also integrates with the Ballast Water Treatment System.

By combining all pressure, tank, and valve data in one platform, the crew can balance and manage the vessel quickly and safely.

Full control!

The main strength of the installation lies in its centralization. Both systems work together in one interface, operated from three different stations on board. This gives flexibility for daily operation and maintenance.

During the project, Marble Automation engineers worked closely with Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology and the shipyard to make sure the system fits perfectly with the vessel’s design and workflow. The result is a setup that provides solid control and clear visualization without unnecessary complexity.

The Molvik shows how automation supports modern maritime operations. It brings better insight, faster control, and safer handling; all in one practical solution.
