The new fast ferry InselExpress 3 is now in service on the North Sea. The vessel was built by Next Generation Shipyard in Lauwersoog and sails for the German shipping company AG Reederei Norden-Frisia, that brings passengers from Norddeich to the East Frisian islands. InselExpress 3 is the sister ship of InselExpress 2, which already runs this route with Marble systems on board.
For this new vessel, Marble Automation delivered a complete alarm monitoring and control system. The setup is built around the daily work of the crew, so all important information stays clear and close at hand. From one screen the crew keeps the overview on the ship its main functions, without searching trough different panels.
The main parts of the delivery are:
- Alarming – fast and clear warnings, so the crew can react quick when something needs attention.
- Tank readings – a simple overview of all tank levels on board, always up to date.
- MasterVolt power integration – a full link with the MasterVolt system for monitoring and control of the electrical installation.
- Navigation light control – steering of the navigation lights through the MS225 navigation light controller, a Marble product.
- Machinery control – direct control and monitoring of the machinery, for calm operation during every crossing.
Because the base from InselExpress 2 was already there, the step to InselExpress 3 could be made fast and solid. The crew works with one system that is clear, simple to use and made for the rough conditions on the open sea.
