Engine Control System
A diesel engine easily outlives the system that monitors and protects it. Vibrations and high temperatures in the engine room wear out electronics long before the engine itself is due for replacement, and spare parts for older systems become hard to find.
The Engine Control System (ECS) brings engine monitoring, control and safety in line with today's standards. It adapts to every engine type and can replace your existing engine monitoring and safety system pin for pin, or extend it. Because the ECS is modular, it scales from a compact, type-approved engine safety system to a complete engine monitoring and control system, with remote monitoring by direct wiring or via the cloud as an option.

Safety, monitoring and control in one cabinet
The ECS combines a PLC for monitoring and control with an independent, hardwired safety module. It suits Wärtsilä, Stork and Stork-Werkspoor engines such as R150, R210, F240, SW280, W32, W38A, W38B, TM410 and TM620, all DEUTZ marine engines such as D620 and D628, and other engines on request. Every ECS is delivered with electrical drawings, the mechanical layout of the cabinet and an operator manual.
Type-approved engine safety
A hardwired safety module handles the engine stops for overspeed, low lube oil pressure, high HT cooling water temperature, high oil mist concentration, the PLC's common shutdown and the emergency stop buttons.
Redundant and self-monitoring
The safety system has a redundant power supply. Stop inputs, speed pick-ups, stop solenoids and power supplies are continuously monitored for failures.
Monitoring and control
All other engine signals are connected to the PLC, which handles the complete monitoring and control of the engine, including the signals to and from the speed control.
Touch display and gauges
A colour touch display for read-out, trending and adjusting parameters, plus analogue gauges for engine speed, lube oil pressure and HT cooling water temperature that keep working independently of the PLC.
Integration and remote monitoring
Connects to your alarm, ship or plant management system via Modbus, Profibus and more. Remote monitoring by direct wiring or via the cloud is available as an option.
Easy retrofit
Use the ECS as a pin-compatible replacement of an existing system or as an extension to it. Existing sensors can be reused, which keeps the refit short and affordable. Replaces LCS, WECS2000, WECS7000, UCS, UNIC, MKS, Spemos and Deuta systems.
