Marble Automation on the Gadus 5900: Hav Fles

Royal T Shipyards in Kampen has delivered the Hav Fles to Faroese shipping company Navigare. After successful sea trials, the second vessel of the GADUS 5900 series is ready to enter service. The Hav Fles is a sister vessel of the Hav Leiti, delivered earlier this year. The ship is diesel-electric with four generator sets, so power generation follows the actual demand, and in an emergency she can sail on a single generator set. An electrically powered excavator makes the vessel self-unloading, and with a shore power connection cargo can be handled in port with zero emissions.

Marble Automation on Board

Just like on the Hav Leiti, Marble Automation delivered the complete alarm and control package. The installation covers tank readings, UMS (Unattended Machinery Space) automation using MS2006 extensions, and a ballast and bilge control system with the Aventics valve system, operated from a single interface.

The alarm system feeds into the onboard VDR, so all alarm and monitoring data is recorded continuously, and the data can be shared with ship managers, owners or technical superintendents ashore. The MS325B emergency telegraph completes the package and gives direct and fast communication between bridge and engine room.

Together with Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek

The electrical installation on board the Hav Fles was carried out by Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek. With the electrical installer and the automation supplier working side by side at the yard, wiring, cabinets and software came together as one system.

Lessons learned from the first ship

The nice thing about building a series is that every ship gets a little better. Everything learned on the Hav Leiti went straight into the Hav Fles. Improvements made after the first delivery were built in from the start, so commissioning and testing went faster and with fewer open points. The cooperation between all parties involved, Royal T Shipyards, Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek, Navigare and Marble Automation, went even better this time.

GADUS 5900 series

With the Hav Fles, two of the four GADUS 5900 vessels are now in service and construction of the remaining two continues. Every ship gets the same automation package, so crew members moving between vessels will find a familiar working environment each time.

A safe voyage and fair winds to the captain and crew of the Hav Fles. On to the next delivery!
